First Four Days
Welcome to the beginning of a new year in fourth grade! I am looking forward to a new school year and getting to know your child! We had a great first 4 days with lots of getting to know each other and fun activities! We spent part of our first day with a team-building activity called the Marshmallow Challenge. The idea was to work together to create a free standing structure made from 20 spaghetti sticks, 1 yd. of string, 1 yd. of masking tape, and 1 marshmallow stuck on top of the structure. I thought the kids did a great job of listening to each other's ideas and I heard lots of words of encouragement! We also created word clouds out of words associated with our summer on wordle.net, spent some time talking about our Classroom Goals and how to create a "Recipe for Success" in our classroom this year and we enjoyed a snack to go along with that activity. A full, but fun week. Next week we will start to experience "real" school and delve into Reading, Math, and Social Studies. I hope you enjoy the pictures from our First Four Days!
